Has your nose bothered you but you aren’t ready to commit to getting a rhinoplasty? If so, Dr. Roberto Garcia offers non-surgical solutions as an alternative to rhinoplasty surgery.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty, also known as liquid rhinoplasty, is a procedure that reshapes the nose using a hyaluronic filler such as, Juvéderm Voluma®. The procedure is a quick and comfortable procedure that is highly effective for someone who has a pronounced bump on the bridge of the nose. By filling in the area around the bump, an illusion of a straighter nose can be created. The nose is a particularly delicate area, so it is important to choose an experienced physician such as, Dr. Roberto Garcia to perform this procedure.
Who is a candidate for a non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a popular procedure because this technique enables nearly any adult to quickly change the appearance of their nose and, ultimately, their face. There is no anesthesia to present risks to the patient, and no incisions or sutures to have to manage after treatment. Therefore, men and women who are in good general health tend to be good candidates for a non-surgical nose job.
During our consultation, what we strive to determine is how much change a person desires and how that may be achieved with a non-surgical approach. For some, dermal filler injections may not be sufficient for their needs. When the interior of the nose is affected by a condition such as a deviated septum, surgical rhinoplasty is necessary to improve nasal function. External concerns that necessitate decreasing the size of the nostrils, tip or other aspects of the nose may also require a surgical technique.
The issues that may be corrected with a non-surgical nose job include a bump on the bridge of the nose, a slightly crooked bridge, drooping tip, and small indentations. Once the desired appearance has been achieved, it can be maintained with touch-up treatments every 1 to 2 years. The need for maintenance is an aspect of treatment that a patient will want to strongly consider.
Advantages of Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
Getting a non-surgical nose job is advantageous for a number of reasons. Benefits of a minimally-invasive approach include:
- No anesthesia risks.
- No downtime, go right back to your normal activities.
- Minor side effects, if any.
- Short procedure time.
- Immediate, natural-looking results.
- Effects can be reversed.
- Results last 1 year or more.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Before And After Photos

Dermal fillers such as Juvéderm Voluma are often utilized to refine the shape of the nose. Other Juvéderm products or Restylane products may also be appropriate depending on the extent of correction needed and the condition of skin and superficial tissue on the nose. Juvéderm and Restylane products are made with varying consistencies of hyaluronic acid particles, providing smooth, natural-looking results that can be reversed if so desired.
How is a Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty done?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is performed in our office, usually in an hour or less. After a brief consultation, we may apply topical anesthetic if the patient is concerned about feeling their injections. Compared to other common dermal filler treatments, nose reshaping is reportedly one of the most comfortable even without numbing cream. The generation of dermal fillers used for treatment contain an anesthetic, so tissue becomes less sensitive after the very first injection.
Before commencing with treatment, we may take photographs to create an accurate record of the non-corrected nose. If topical numbing cream is applied, this will need to stay on the skin for approximately 30 minutes. Ice may also be used in conjunction with or as an alternative to a topical anesthetic. As a final preparation, the skin is thoroughly cleansed. Injections are administered at specific points on the nose to achieve the desired correction. The nose may then be gently massaged to mold the filler as needed to hold beautiful contours.
What to Expect with a non-Surgical Nose Job
Non-surgical rhinoplasty has become a popular cosmetic procedure because it is fast, virtually painless, and carries very little risk. Patients who choose to correct mild to moderate shape concerns can expect for their nose to appear straighter and smoother. What many people also find is that, by reducing an obvious malformation on the nose, this feature blends in more harmoniously with the eyes, chin, lips, and cheeks. Many patients express this as their nose looking smaller.
How long do the results last?
The results of non-surgical rhinoplasty typically last anywhere from 10 months to 2 years. There are various factors that may affect longevity, including the type of filler used and the body’s natural metabolism of hyaluronic acid.
What to expect after Treatment
There is no downtime after a non-surgical nose job. However, it is not uncommon for a patient to experience minor swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness for a short period after their procedure. These side effects may be more noticed when the tip of the nose is treated. Typically, they gradually disappear over two weeks.
Patients may be advised to avoid medications and supplements that could increase the risk of bruising. Culprits are substances that thin the blood, including aspirin, alcohol, vitamin E, fish oil and flaxseed oil, and ibuprofen.
After a non-surgical nose job, patients should avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours and are encouraged to avoid strenuous exercise that may increase blood flow and bruising. Patients who wear glasses may want to take a day off from activities so they can keep the bridge of the nose free from heavy frames. Sunglasses should also be avoided for a day or two while filler particles integrate into superficial tissue.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Vs. Rhinoplasty Surgery
There are significant differences between a non-surgical nose job and traditional rhinoplasty. When surgery is performed to alter the shape and size of the nose, nerves, and blood vessels are disrupted. This could result in persistent numbness, recurrent nosebleeds, and cartilage collapse. Surgery also requires downtime to recover. Patients are typically able to begin resuming normal activities about two weeks after nose surgery. At that point, the results that have been achieved are permanent. If the outcome of surgical rhinoplasty is unsatisfactory, revision surgery may be performed but these procedures can be highly complicated.
The non-surgical approach affects the skin and superficial tissue only, and only by inserting temporary particles that will deteriorate over time. While there are fewer risks to a non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure, the results are also temporary and much less dramatic than what can be achieved using a proper surgical approach.
