What to Expect on the Day of my Surgery

what to expect day of surgery - contoura facial plastic surgery

Whether you are arriving at our surgical center or our office, you will be greeted by our friendly staff and escorted to the pre-procedure area.  Dr. Garcia will see you, review your medical history, and discuss any questions you may have.  The anesthesia team will also meet with you and explain their role and what to expect with the administration of the anesthetic.  It is normal to experience some anxiety when having a procedure.  Our goal is to provide a warm, relaxing, comfortable, environment for you at all times.  You will be made as comfortable as possible as you transition to the surgical area.  Depending on what procedures you have done, the procedure time will vary.  Generally speaking, plan on being with us for 2-4 hours.

After the procedure, you may be under the influence of the anesthesia and/or the relaxation medications given to you during your procedure.

Patients having certain procedures will continue under Dr. Garcia’s care with a caregiver at one of our recovery cottages.  The caregiver will be with you for the first 24 hours after your surgery to monitor your progress and provide the after care needed.

Although discomfort after a facial cosmetic procedure is rare, you will be prescribed medications to assist you in case you experience discomfort.  Our philosophy is to relieve any discomfort and to make your recovery as easy as possible.

During the week after your procedure, you should plan on maintaining a light schedule.  Having a family member or friend assist you is always advisable.

Should you have any questions about your experience, feel free to let us know.
