Stimulating Collagen with Microneedling for Healthier, Younger Looking Skin

Collagen is a type of protein that works with keratin to provide the skin with strength, elasticity and support. It is produced in the dermal layer of the skin. Collagen molecules are bundled throughout this dermal layer. When you are young, you have an over abundance of collagen in the face, which is why young skin is smooth, elastic, and plump. As we age, the collagen production slows down, with existing collagen experiencing damage due to sun exposure, air pollutants, cigarette exposure, and much more. This breakdown in collagen result in wrinkles and sagging skin.

Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy is an extremely effective method to stimulate collagen and rejuvenate the overall appearance of the skin! It is a remarkable non-laser, non-surgical treatment to stimulate the skin’s natural healing which will increase the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. The results include: skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, scarring and hyperpigmentation significantly improved, pores become finer, and the overall health and circulation of the skin is improved.

Patients will see results in their skin’s texture after just one treatment and results will continue to improve with subsequent treatments. The number of treatments required will be determined by each individual’s treatment goals and the health of your skin. Typically, for most patients, a series of 4 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is recommended. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo aging, or acne scars, a series of 6-8 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart is optimal. Microneedling should also be a part of a maintenance plan to help maintain the glow and rejuvenating effects of the treatments.
